Value addition to Sri Lankan materials foe high-tech industrial applications

Exploration of upgrading processes for local graphite is carried out under this project via introducing advanced low-cost purification and surface modification techniques. The investigations are further extended for developing the upgraded graphite for intended industrial and nano technological applications such as in graphene production, carbone nano tubes, rechargeable batteries ... etc.

Development of low-cost and performance enhanced materials for energy conversion

Under this, synthesis of low-cost and property enhanced materials for rechargeable and primary batteries (Li-ion, Mg-ion, Na-ion and Ag-ion batteries) using novel nano- material synthesis techniques is performed. Further investigations are carried out for component fabrication and devising these power sources in Sri Lanka.
